Electricians carry a particular kind of admin burden. Quotes, scheduling, and then the paperwork that follows the work: certificates, test results, notifications. It all matters, and it all takes time after an already long day.
AI can't sign your certificates (and shouldn't). It can do a lot of the typing and organising around them.
Where AI actually fits
The useful bits fall into three areas. Winning work: answering enquiries and drafting quotes quickly. Running work: scheduling, reminders and rescheduling when a job overruns. Finishing work: turning test results and notes into tidy paperwork and getting it to the customer.
There's a lot of structure in electrical paperwork, whether it's an EICR or a minor works certificate, and structure is exactly what AI handles well.

What it's great at
- Drafting quotes from job details, photos and your price list
- Scheduling and rescheduling, and keeping customers informed
- Turning notes and test results into structured paperwork drafts
- Reminding landlords and customers when inspections are due
What it's not great at
- Testing, inspection and sign-off. That's your competence and your signature
- Judging safety on site. Always a person, always
- Interpreting regulations for an unusual install. Ask an expert human (you)
- Fixing messy notes it can't read. Clear inputs, clear outputs
How to implement it
Start where the hours go. For many electricians it's the paperwork after the job, for others it's quoting. Track a normal week to find out which.
If it's paperwork, build a flow from your notes or voice memos to a draft that matches your certificate software's fields, which you then check and finalise.
If it's quoting, gather past quotes and your pricing and build a tool that drafts from a description and photos.
How I approach it
I build around the tools you already use rather than adding another system to your day. You stay in charge of sign-off; AI takes care of the admin around it.
If something can be fixed with a better template instead of AI, I'll tell you. Cheaper for you, less to maintain.
Ideas that work
- Quote drafts from photos and a voice note in the van
- Automated reminders for EICRs and periodic inspections
- Paperwork drafts from your test results, ready to check and finalise
- Smart scheduling that reshuffles and notifies customers when a job overruns
If the admin is the part of the job you'd happily hand to someone else, Book a call.
